HC Deb 29 November 1911 vol 32 cc402-3
Mr. HERBERT

asked whether the right hon. Gentleman will allow the South Somerset outworkers to come under the National Insurance Bill voluntarily instead of compulsorily?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

If these persons were employed contributors before marriage they can continue as voluntary contributors during marriage, otherwise no married woman can be a voluntary contributor, and my right hon. Friend sees no reason to make an exception in favour of a class of persons whom the hon. Member desires to exempt from the compulsory insurance.
