HC Deb 29 November 1911 vol 32 c399
Mr. PETO

asked whether employment as a foreman is reckoned as manual labour under section (g), Part II., First Schedule, of the National Insurance Bill: and, if not, whether a mechanic who was promoted at the age of fifty, after having paid contributions for more than thirty years, to the position of foreman at three guineas a week would cease to be an employed contributor?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The answer would depend upon the circumstances of the particular case, but the contributor would in any case be entitled to continue in insurance as a voluntary contributor.
