HC Deb 29 November 1911 vol 32 cc417-8

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether, having regard to the interval since the issue of the Report of the Customs and Excise Amalgamation Committee, he will give instructions for the immediate payment of the arrears due under paragraphs 168–171 of that Report; whether any, and, if so, what interest is proposed on the sums due as from 1st April, 1909; and whether, if the delay is caused by calculations of interest, he will cause immediate effect to be given to payment of the principal sums, leaving other payments to a later, if more convenient, date?

The general order dealing with this matter will, it is expected, be issued this week, and the payments will be made as soon as possible. It is not intended to pay interest.
