HC Deb 28 November 1911 vol 32 cc211-2
Mr. T. M. HEALY

asked if the right hon. Gentleman's attention has been called to the address signed by Mr. P. S. Golding, Crown Prosecutor, Galway, on the 15th ultimo, asserting the existence of traitors in Ireland; if he will instruct Mr. Golding to prosecute these persons; and, if not, will he obtain from the Crown Prosecutor the names of the traitors in question?

Mr. T. W. RUSSELL

My right hon. Friend's attention has been called to the address referred to but it was signed by Mr. Golding in his capacity of chairman of the Urban Distrct Councl oif Ballina-sloe, as already explained in answer to a question recently put by the hon. and gallant member for East Down. The expression "traitors" was not used in the address in any criminal sense, and the Attorney-General informs me that there is absolutely no reason for a criminal prosecution. It is not intended to ask the Crown Solicitor for the names of the persons referred to in the address.

Mr. JOHN ROCHE

I desire to ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he is not aware that the names of these traitors are well known to every man in Galway as they are to Members of this House?

Mr. RUSSELL

I know nothing about them.
