HC Deb 27 November 1911 vol 32 cc25-6
Mr. HAROLD SMITH

asked the Prime Minister whether, in the event of the Conciliation Bill being accepted by the House his undertaking to grant facilities for Amendments to the Manhood Suffrage Bill, in the direction of the enfranchisement of women, will still hold good?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Franchise Bill will be so drawn as to make feasible any Amendments in the direction referred to.

Mr. H. SMITH

May I ask the Prime Minister whether the Reform Bill will, as stated by him, leave the promoters of the Conciliation Bill precisely the same opportunity as before, or has the Conciliation Bill been "torpedoed," as stated by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on Friday?

The PRIME MINISTER

All the pledges I have given in regard to the Conciliation Bill will remain in full force.
