HC Deb 21 November 1911 vol 31 cc1020-1
Lord CHARLES BERESFORD

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he has any official reports of discontent amongst the men of the Fleet; and whether he can give the House assurances that there is no such feeling?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The reply to the first part of the question, as my Noble Friend will no doubt have anticipated, is that the Admiralty have no official reports. As regards the second part of the question, I would deprecate the use of the word "discontent" in connection with the seamen of the Fleet, than whom the country has no more loyal and faithful servants. I shall take steps to make sure that any legitimate aspirations which may be entertained in the various ratings receive the prompt attention of the Board of Admiralty, over which I preside.
