HC Deb 20 November 1911 vol 31 cc820-1
Mr. WILLIAM THORNE

asked whether the Government intend to make financial provisions for working the Unemployed Workman's Act for next year; and, in the event of the Unemployed Workman's Act being superseded by Part II. of the National Insurance Bill, consideration will be given to the service and experience of the clerks and officers who are now working on the various distress committees?

Mr. BURNS

Provision has been made for the purpose referred to for the financial year ending 31st March, 1912. I am not in a position to make a statement as to the financial provision which may be necessary after that date. As regards the last part of the question, perhaps I may refer to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the 17th instant to the hon. Member for North Islington.
