HC Deb 20 November 1911 vol 31 c828
Mr. JOHN ROCHE

asked whether, owing to migration under the Congested Districts Board, the existing national school at Tierenascragh, county Galway, with only a space for thirty-five pupils and a present average of forty-two, has now to provide further accommodation for eleven new families which have come into the parish; and whether, as the manager is willing if he gets a two-thirds grant to build a new school and vest in the Board, advantage will be taken of this offer to provide proper schooling facilities for the district?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Commissioners of National Education have no information as to the migration of families into the district served by this school, nor have they received any application from the manager for aid towards the erection of a new schoolhouse. An inspector has, however, been asked to furnish a report on a proposal of the manager to vest the school-house in trustees with a view to obtaining a grant towards improving the premises and providing additional accommodation.
