HC Deb 20 November 1911 vol 31 cc811-2
Sir H. CARLILE

asked what is the approximate number of passengers who are carried by the various railway companies with termini in London to and from the Metropolis daily within a radius of thirty miles?

Mr. BUXTON

The only figures in the possession of the Board of Trade are those given in Appendix B xii. to the second annual report of the London Traffic Branch (Cd. 4988). From these it appears that the total number of passengers arriving at London termini from stations within thirty miles of Charing Cross during the month of October, 1907, was rather more than nine and three-quarter millions. The total does not include passengers travelling with the return halves of tickets taken in London, and must be taken as an approximation only.

Sir H. CARLILE

Are these daily figures?

Mr. BUXTON

They are for the month of October.
