HC Deb 16 November 1911 vol 31 cc509-10
Mr. C. BATHURST

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture what number of persons, other than boys, were engaged in agriculture and horticultural occupations in Great Britain in the years 1900 and 1910, respectively?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Herbert Lewis)

Returns of persons engaged in agricultural and horticultural, as well as other occupations, are obtained only by means of the decennial Census. My right hon. Friend therefore regrets that he is unable to furnish the information for the years specified in the question. The information obtained when the Census was taken this year will, of course, be available in the usual course.
