§ Mr. CHARLES BATHURSTasked the President of the Board of Agriculture, how many agricultural holdings of fifty acres and less there are now in England and Wales; and how many of such holdings there were in the years 1900 and 1907, respectively?
§ The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Runciman)There were 289,093 agricultural holdings of more than one and not more than fifty acres in England and Wales in June, 1907, and 292,488 in June last. There is no authentic return for the year 1900.
§ Mr. C. BATHURSTIs it a fact that although a year ago there were fewer small holdings in this country than before the Act of 1907 was passed, there are now more than there were prior to that Act?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANI think that is the case.
