HC Deb 13 November 1911 vol 31 cc9-10
Mr. WHITEHOUSE

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he will cause to be issued a reprint of the Education (School and Continuation Class Attendance) Bill, in a form showing which portions of the Bill merely reproduce existing legislation and which portions contain new proposals, as was done in the case of the Coal Mines Bill?

Mr. J. A. PEASE

The existing legislation reproduced by the Bill is drawn from a number of sources, and has been subject, in some cases, to modification. It is in itself so complex that it is not possible to reprint it in the form suggested in the question without giving rise to misleading impressions. I entirely sympathise with the object of the hon. Member and will look further into the matter to see if this difficulty can be overcome.

Mr. WHITEHOUSE

Does not the Act repeal wholly or in part every Education Act, twelve in number, passed since 1870?

Mr. SPEAKER

That can be discovered by looking at the Act itself.
