HC Deb 08 November 1911 vol 30 c1647
Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that, owing to the lack of storage facilities, there is only three days' supply of petrol in London, and that a fog of that duration in the river would cut London off from this means of transport; and whether he will take immediate steps, in consultation with the Port of London Authority, to remedy this condition of affairs?

Mr. BUXTON

The granting or withholding of facilities for the storage of petrol in London rests with the local authorities subject to an appeal to the Home Office. The Board of Trade have no jurisdiction in the matter.
