HC Deb 30 May 1911 vol 26 cc906-7
Mr. DORIS

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the Inland Revenue officers engaged on old age pension work in Ireland who were ordered to ignore the bank holidays of 26th and 27th December last, owing to pressure of pension work, have not since been allowed to take two days' holiday in lieu of those of which they were deprived; and, if so, can he state the grounds of such refusal?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The Board of Customs and Excise are not aware that officers in Ireland were ordered to be on duty on old age pension work on 26th and 27th December last, but they have recently issued directions that an additional day's leave may be granted as compensation leave to any officer who is compelled to be on duty on an official holiday.

Mr. DORIS

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he can state the grounds upon which the claim of Margaret Naughton, of Greenaun, Turlough, Castlebar, county Mayo, aged eighty years, has been disallowed by the Local Government Board?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Birrell)

The case referred to does not appear to have come before the Local Government Board, and I have, therefore, no information in the matter.
