HC Deb 30 May 1911 vol 26 c903
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that at Pontypridd petty sessional court on 10th May three miners were sentenced to terms of four months', two months', and one month's hard labour, respectively, for alleged assault upon the police; and if he is aware that on 15th May eight miners were charged with the same offence and received sentences ranging from six weeks' to four months' hard labour, respectively; and whether he proposes to order that these men be released?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I have received a full report of the facts in each of the cases to which the lion. Member refers, and find no reason for advising any interference with the sentences passed on the offenders.
