HC Deb 29 May 1911 vol 26 c709
Mr. BURGOYNE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the report contained in White Paper [Cd. 5651] on the International Congress on the White Slave Traffic, held in Madrid in October last, he proposes to proceed immediately with legislation to strengthen the law the better to combat the evils now existing?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The matter is receiving my serious consideration, but legislation on this subject is surrounded with difficulties. I hope, however, that my Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary will in a few days introduce a Bill dealing with one important part of the subject.

Mr. KING

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Bill was blocked the other night from the Treasury Bench, and will he use his influence to see that the block is removed?

Mr. CHURCHILL

No, Sir.
