asked whether, in view of the incomplete state of scientific knowledge in reference to swine fever, as admitted in the recently issued report of the Departmental Committee, and the impossibility of issuing effective swine fever orders and regulations under the Contagious Diseases of Animals Acts until more exact knowledge has been attained as the result of further scientific investigation and research, the Board of Agriculture will forthwith make application for a special grant from the Development Fund to enable this to he carried out?

The Committee have already at their disposal money for experimental investigation, and no further funds are at present required.
