HC Deb 29 May 1911 vol 26 c688
Mr. GINNELL

asked the present aggregate amount of all Government loans and parts of loans, local and general, now outstanding in Ireland; and the present aggregate annual payment, principal, interest, and total, respectively, on account of those loans?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The aggregate amount outstanding in respect of loans made by the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland was, on 1st April, 1911, £9,510,898. To ascertain the present aggregate annual payment in respect of this sum would involve considerable labour and some expense, but the figures for last year will perhaps afford sufficient information. On 1st April, 1910, the total amount outstanding was £9,608,110, on which the ordinary repayments in the year to 31st March, 1911, were £736,041, representing about £396,181 principal and £339,860 interest.
