HC Deb 25 May 1911 vol 26 c441
Mr. PRETYMAN

asked whether the Government valuer in the Chingford district of Essex informed the representative of Mr. F. G. Sinclair, who objected to the high value placed upon some of Mr. Sinclair's land, that if the land belonged to anyone but Mr. Sinclair he would have valued at agricultural value, but Mr. Sinclair was just the man the Government wanted to get at; and whether this indicates the spirit of the instructions which have been given to the Government valuers?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I am not aware of any such communication, but I will certainly cause inquiry to be made into the matter. I am amazed that the hon. Member should think it conceivable that any such instruction should emanate from the Government.
