HC Deb 25 May 1911 vol 26 c418
Captain CRAIG

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he was aware that at an attempted sale by auction of lands at Mount Temple, near Athlone, conducted by Mr. E. T. Robbins, several persons of the name of Daly succeeded in preventing the sale from being held by open intimidation; and if the Government intend to take any steps in the matter?

Mr. BIRRELL

I am informed that, at the auction of the lands referred to, two relatives of the owner, one named Daly, objected to the sale taking place owing to claims made by them against the property, and consequently nobody bid for the farm. The objections were made quietly, and the police who were present state that there was no breach of the peace and nothing to call for police action. The dispute is a purely family one and does not appear to call for any action on the part of the Government.
