HC Deb 10 May 1911 vol 25 c1198
Mr. BRIDGEMAN

asked if persons wholly or partly employed in the distribution of goods outside the premises are included in the definition of shop assistants in the Shops Bill?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Persons wholly employed in the distribution, by which I understand the hon. Member to mean delivery, of goods outside the shop would not come within the definition of shop assistant in the Bill. Persons partly so employed would come within the definition if the main part of their employment was in the shop in connection with the serving of customers, receipt of orders, or despatch of goods, but not otherwise.
