HC Deb 10 May 1911 vol 25 c1184
Lord CHARLES BERESFORD

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he was aware that it would be more convenient and add to the comfort of Navy pensioners if these old servants of the State were allowed to draw their pensions weekly instead of quarterly as at present; and whether he could see his way to give orders for these pensions to be paid weekly in future?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. McKenna)

Naval pensioners at present receive their pensions quarterly in advance, and I have no evidence that payment in smaller instalments would be more convenient or add to the comfort of the men. On the contrary, I am aware that the large body of Naval pensioners are opposed to any change.
