HC Deb 10 May 1911 vol 25 cc1200-1
Mr. FELL

asked the Lord Advocate if his attention has been called to the Census returns showing reduction in the population of many of the smaller towns in Scotland; if such reduction is accompanied by a decay in the local industries which formerly flourished there; and if the Government propose to inquire into the causes of this decay and the remedies for it?

Mr. URE

Until the Census figures for Scotland are published in a systematic form by the Registrar-General it is obviously desirable to postpone consideration of the questions raised by the hon. Member. No official returns have yet been issued relative to the smaller burghs.
