HC Deb 09 May 1911 vol 25 c1020
Mr. BRACE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state what is the amount of the expenses incurred in connection with the employment by him of the Metropolitan Police in the county of Glamorgan, liability for the payment of which it is sought to impose upon the ratepayers of the county by means of retrospective legislation, as proposed by the Expenses of Aid to Police Bill?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Masterman)

I cannot at present state the exact amount which will be payable by the county of Glamorgan under the Bill referred to in respect of the expenses of the Metropolitan Police employed in the county since 1st November last, but it will probably be about thirty thousand pounds. This does not include the special allowances, amounting to £14,100, already paid to the men out of the moneys voted by Parliament.
