HC Deb 09 May 1911 vol 25 cc1043-4
Captain FABER

I desire to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty a question of which I have given him private notice, namely, whether it is the fact that the two British naval officers who took part in The Hague Conference concerning the Declaration of London were in no sense free, as they were acting all through under the instructions of the Foreign Office? Is it the fact also that the naval members of the Board of Admiralty were never. consulted?

Mr. McKENNA

The answer to both parts of the question is in the negative.

Captain FABER

The naval advisers were consulted.

Mr. McKENNA

I answered both parts of the question in the negative.

Captain FABER

Will the right hon. Gentleman say how many naval advisers were consulted?

Mr. McKENNA

If the hon. Member will be so good as to put a question on the Paper, I shall be glad to answer it.
