HC Deb 04 May 1911 vol 25 cc582-3
Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

asked whether, in view of the fact that the Legislature of Jamaica had passed a resolution asking the Governor to take steps to secure the re-establishment of direct steamship communication between that island and Great Britain, and had offered to contribute a reasonable subsidy for such a service, and that Bermuda had also offered to contribute a subsidy in the event of being included in the arrangements, what action His Majesty's Government were prepared to take in the matter?

Mr. HARCOURT

His Majesty's Government are awaiting the arrival of further information and of the Governor of Jamaica in this country.

Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

When is the Governor expected to be in this country?

Mr. HARCOURT

Very shortly.
