HC Deb 01 May 1911 vol 25 cc39-40
Mr. LUNDON

asked the Chief Secretary whether the Estates Commissioners had acquired the untenanted land on the Cleary Minors estate at Athlacca, county Limerick; if so, how soon might the land be distributed, and would the claims of those parties whose names had been supplied by the United Irish League executives of county Limerick be considered, and would he say if the Lord Chancellor had let sixty acres of this land to a grazier for one year; and, if so, what steps the Commissioners intended to take regarding the matter?

Mr. BIRRELL

The formal proposal of the Estates Commissioners to purchase 741 acres of untenanted land on this estate was issued on 24th April, and the Commissioners hope to take possession of the lands (with the exception of sixty acres which have been let for the present season) as soon as their proposal has been accepted and their requisitions as to title complied with. The claims of all persons who have applied for allotments will be considered by the Commissioners in the distribution of the lands.
