HC Deb 01 May 1911 vol 25 c14
Mr. ROBERT PEARCE

asked whether, in view of the action of the Swiss and German Governments towards the proposals for fixing internationally the date of Eastertide and reforming the calendar throughout Christendom, and in view of the ecclesiastical, commercial, industrial, financial, political, social, and sporting interests to be thereby benefited in the United Kingdom, the British Government are willing to co-operate in steps to consider and give effect to such proposals?

Mr. BUXTON

An inquiry has been made by the. Swiss Government as to the willingness of His Majesty's Government to take part in an international conference on the reform of the calendar, should such a conference be summoned, and that the matter is now under the consideration of the various Departments interested.
