§ Mr. LANSBURYasked how long the labour master, recently discharged from Belmont workhouse, was engaged in that position; and what was the nature of the breach of discipline he committed before his discharge?
§ Mr. BURNSThe temporary engagement of the man in question lasted from June, 1910, till February, 1911. The breach of discipline referred to consisted of going on duty under the influence of drink and, it was alleged, roughly treating an inmate. I am informed that the evidence respecting this was very conflicting.
§ Mr. J. WARDIs this the man on whose evidence some forty or fifty people in the workhouse were convicted?
