HC Deb 01 May 1911 vol 25 c13
Major M'MICKING

asked the Lord Advocate if he will state to what authority questions relating to afforestation in Scotland should be addressed; and whether a grant from the Development Fund for afforestation in Scotland has been made?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

Questions relating to afforestation grants from the Development Fund would be most conveniently addressed to the Secretary to the Treasury as representing the Commissioners. No grant for afforestation in Scotland has yet been made from that Fund, but as my hon. Friend is aware the first step has been taken, with the approval of the Development Commissioners and of the Treasury, in the appointment of a Committee by the Secretary for Scotland. The report of that Committee will be a necessary preliminary to the consideration of grants.
