§ Mr. LANSBURYasked the Home Secretary if he has received an application from the Poplar Borough Council for sanction of a new by-law prohibiting chalking and writing on the pavements for purposes of advertising; and if such a by-law has been sanctioned for any other town in the United Kingdom?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLA sealed copy of the by-law referred to by the hon. Member has been forwarded to me by the Poplar Borough Council, as required by Section 23 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1882. Similar by-laws for dealing with this nuisance are in force in a large number of towns throughout the country.
