§ Mr. HUDSONasked if arrangements can be made for Lloyd's to communicate to the Admiralty the first information of 229 derelict and abandoned vessels which are obstructions at sea; and whether a war vessel can be immediately sent to destroy them?
§ Mr. McKENNAA careful watch is kept on reports of floating derelicts, and, if necessary, immediate notices to mariners are issued. Special arrangements with Lloyd's are not considered necessary other than those now in force, which answer all practical purposes. The destruction of derelicts is not, as a rule, a service on which His Majesty's ships can be employed.
§ Mr. HUDSONMay I ask upon what grounds action by the Admiralty is taken at any time with regard to these derelicts?
§ Mr. McKENNAHis Majesty's ships are not engaged destroying derelicts at the present time.
