HC Deb 21 March 1911 vol 23 c236
Lord NINIAN CRICHTON-STUART

asked the Home Secretary whether he can give any information as to whether any private youthful organisations of a naval or military character are likely to be allowed to be represented either on the line of route of the Coronation or in the procession itself?

Mr. HALDANE

Arrangements are under consideration for the presence on the line of route of the Coronation procession and the Royal progress of detachments of representative organisations of the character referred to.

Mr. SILVESTER HORNE

asked whether, in consequence of the extra public holidays at the Coronation, it is proposed this year to omit the usual Bank Holiday at Whitsuntide; and whether it is proposed that the public holiday in connection with the Coronation should cover more than the actual Coronation day?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. It is not proposed that the holiday in connection with the Coronation should cover more than the actual day of he Coronation, except in the county of London, in which, as a matter of public convenience, it is proposed that the day of the first Royal procession—namely, Friday, 23rd June—should be declared a Bank Holiday.
