HC Deb 20 March 1911 vol 23 c36
Sir GILBERT PARKER

had the following question on the Notice Paper: "To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether, under the Labour Exchanges Act, 1909, money is expended in assisting unemployed labourers to emigrate to Canada or elsewhere"?

The HON. MEMBER

The word "is" is a misprint for "may be."

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Tennant)

That does not affect the answer. No money has been so expended.

Sir GILBERT PARKER

Is it the case that money may be so expended?

Mr. TENNANT

I think I ought to have notice of that question.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Is the House to understand that no money for emigration expenses has ever been allowed?

Mr. TENNANT

Yes.
