HC Deb 16 March 1911 vol 22 c2442
Mr. FFRENCH

asked how many samples of artificial manures were taken during the past year in Ireland by the official samplers for analysis; how many of these samples were above, and how many below, the official limit of error, and if there have been any prosecutions?

Mr. BIRRELL

During the year ended 30th September last 441 samples of artificial manure were taken by the official samplers, and 268 of these were analysed by the Department of Agriculture. With 248 of the latter the required invoices were given, and of these 172 were found to be up to guarantee, 48 were found to be deficient within the prescribed limits of error, and 28 were deficient beyond the limits. Particulars as to the legal and other proceedings taken by the Department will be found in the Report of Proceedings under the Fertilisers and Feeding Stuffs Act, 1906, for the year 1909–10.
