HC Deb 15 March 1911 vol 22 c2221
Mr. NEVILLE

asked whether the right hon. Gentleman can state whether all or how many trade unions keep the funds which are the security for the benefits contracted for by its members distinct from the funds devoted to purely trade purposes?

Mr. BUXTON

As a rule trade unions do not earmark separate funds for particular purposes. A few trade unions have made special arrangements to maintain certain friendly benefit funds, but I am unable to state how many arrangements of this kind are actually operative at the present time.

Mr. NEVILLE

Is there any provision for ascertaining by actuarial valuation whether the benefit funds are maintained in such a sound condition as to be able to meet all their liabilities?

Mr. BUXTON

I must have notice, please.
