§ Mr. ELLIS DAVIESasked the President of the Local Government Board what is the rateable value per head of the population in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, including Monmouthshire, respectively?
§ Mr. BURNSAccording to the latest information available the amount of rateable value per head of estimated population in England, excluding Monmouthshire, is £6 1s. 5d., and in Wales and Monmouthshire is £5 5s. 8d. For information respecting Scotland and Ireland I would refer my hon. Friend to the Lord Advocate and the Chief Secretary for Ireland.
§ Mr. WEDGWOODCan any reliable statistics be based upon this rateable value, and may I ask whether the system of assessment does not vary from parish to parish and union to union?
§ Mr. BURNSThe reliability of the figures in this connection concerns me. I am asked for certain information, and I am doing my best to supply it.
§ Mr. MORRELLWill the right hon. Gentleman give us his views as to that?
