HC Deb 14 March 1911 vol 22 c2048
Mr. WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he could communicate to the House any information respecting the probable date of completion of the Baro-Kano railway, and respecting the construction of the Bauchi tin mines branch?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Harcourt)

The railway is expected to be constructed to Kano by June next, but will probably not be open to public traffic for some little time after construction is completed. Sanction has been given, and materials ordered, for a branch line from Zaria, of approximately 100 miles in length, to a point near the base of the Bauchi plateau. It is hoped that this branch will be open for traffic in May or June of next year.
