HC Deb 14 March 1911 vol 22 c2065
Mr. C. BATHURST

I desire to ask the Junior Lord of the Treasury, as representing the Board of Agriculture, whether he has any further information to give to the House with reference to the serious outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease at Chobham, in Surrey?

Mr. GULLAND

The slaughter and disposal of the remaining fifty ewes, forty-seven lambs, and forty-six fatting sheep was completed yesterday. None of these animals were found to be affected with foot-and-mouth disease at the time of slaughter. The house-to-house veterinary examination which is being conducted in the vicinity of the outbreak has not revealed any cases of suspicion, and no further report of suspected foot-and-mouth disease has reached the Board from any source.

Mr. C. BATHURST

I should like to ask whether the Board have so far succeeded in tracing the cause of this outbreak?

Mr. GULLAND

I think not.
