HC Deb 14 March 1911 vol 22 c2043
Mr. MORRELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, if he could give any particulars as to the agreement that has recently been made by the Government of the Soudan with a cotton-growing syndicate; whether this agreement is on the same lines as that with the Soudan Plantations Syndicate in respect of the Zeidab territory; how much land has been conceded to the new syndicate, and for what period; and what control would the Government of the Soudan retain over their operations?

Sir E. GREY

I have not yet received the particulars in question. As I informed my hon. Friend on the 7th instant, the latest information will be available when Sir Eldon Gorst's next Report is published.

Mr. MORRELL

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether it is an English syndicate?

Sir E. GREY

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will give me notice of that question.
