HC Deb 13 March 1911 vol 22 c1875
Mr. RAMSAY MACDONALD

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that the education committee of the London County Council have resolved to recommend such council to rescind their resolution of April, 1906, with reference to the examination and vaccination of children, and that the education committee further advise the exclusion from the public elementary schools of those children who are unvaccinated; and whether he will take immediate steps to deal with this proposal?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Runciman)

I have seen a newspaper report of the proceedings of the education committee, from which I understand that they are recommending that the resolution referred to should be rescinded. The report states that they also recommend that no examination of children, for the purpose of ascertaining which. of them have been vaccinated, should be made without the written consent of the parents. I understand that the recommendation of the education committee has not yet been adopted by the the Council. I can only deal with the matter if there is an infringement of the Code.
