§ Mr. BRIDGEMANasked the President of the Board of Education if, in view of the fact that a new scheme of pensions for school teachers has been framed for Scotland, he will immediately consider the propriety of establishing a more satisfactory system for English teachers?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANI am aware that a new scheme is under consideration. The present conditions with regard to superannuation allowances and annuities for teachers in public elementary schools in England and Wales is engaging my attention. I must remind the hon. Member that an alteration of the present conditions could only be brought about by legislation.
