§ Mr. JOHN WARDasked the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the presence of large numbers of workmen employed upon the Birkenhead Waterworks at Alwyn Valley, Denbighshire, with little or no house accommodation within ten miles; whether his Department has any powers under the local Act to insist upon the erection of suitable sanitary house accommodation; and, if not, how he proposes to deal with the housing question?
§ Mr. BURNSUnder the Birkenhead Corporation Water Act, 1907, it is the duty of the Corporation to provide proper and sufficient temporary dwellings for their workmen, with all such sanitary arrangements as may reasonably be required, to the reasonable satisfaction of the Denbigh County Council. I have no information 1197 showing what arrangements have been made, but I am communicating with the county council in regard to the matter.
