§ Mr. BURNSThe acreage of agricultural land within the meaning of the Agricultural Rates Act, 1896, cannot be stated. I am informed, however, by the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, that the acreage of land under crops and grass in England (excluding Monmouth) was 24,471,265 acres in 1900 and 24,276,004 acres in 1910. The rateable value of agricultural land, as defined by the Act of 1896, in England (excluding Monmouth) was £21,919,535 in 1900 and £21,593,388 in 1910.
