HC Deb 02 March 1911 vol 22 c558
Mr. ELLIS DAVIES

asked the President of the Board of Trade, in view of the fluctuations in employment in the slate trade, being as it is dependent on the building trade, whether he has considered the request made by the quarrymen's union for the inclusion of slate quarrymen in the proposed Bill for insurance against unemployment?

Mr. TENNANT

I should be reluctant to extend the scope of the proposal at the outset beyond the three great groups of trades—building, engineering, and shipbuilding.
