Mr. E. JARDINE (for Mr. C. Bathurst)

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether the experiments in the growing of sugar-beet, proposed to be conducted through the agency of agricultural colleges, are the only experiments of the kind contemplated by the Board this year; if he will say over what area such experiments will be made; and whether the cost involved will be defrayed by a grant out of the Development Fund?

Sir E. STRACHEY

The answer to the first part is in the affirmative. To the second that the area has not yet been definitely settled; to the third part the answer is in the negative.
