§ Mr. CHARLES ROBERTSasked for information with reference to the murder of Mr. Ashe at Manizachi.
§ Colonel SEELYA telegram was received at the India Office last night to the effect that Mr. Ashe, collector at Tinnevelly, was shot in the chest by a Brahmin on the morning of the 17th June while sitting in a railway carriage with his wife and shortly afterwards died. The 43 murderer took refuge in an adjoining building and finally shot himself. The motive of the murder is unknown. The murderer has not been identified.
