Mr. MONTAGUE BARLOWasked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that a meeting of about 2,000 teachers was held in Manchester on 26th May last to protest against the Holmes-Morant circular, and that a resolution was unanimously passed appealing to the Prime Minister to appoint a Select Committee to inquire into the whole question of appointment and promotion in the inspectorate of the Board of Education; and what steps he proposes to take, if any, with a view to securing the appointment of such a Committee?
