HC Deb 13 June 1911 vol 26 c1454
Mr. BOWERMAN

asked the Postmaster-General whether he had received a petition, signed by over two thousand students, praying that the practice of holding half-yearly examinations in connection with the Post Office service may be re-established; and, if so, whether he can see his way to give favourable consideration to such petition?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Herbert Samuel)

I have received such a petition, relating to the competitions for girl and women clerkships, and have forwarded it to the Civil Service Commissioners, who are primarily concerned. With respect to the last part of the question I would refer the hon. Member to my answer of the 29th of May on the same subject to the hon. Member for the Hornsey Division of Middlesex.
