§ Any contributing member dismissed from the service on account of misconduct other than fraud or dishonesty or retiring 1894 to avoid such dismissal shall receive back one half of his own contributions without interest, and shall forfeit all other benefits from the superannuation fund, but the committee may in their absolute discretion refund to such contributing member a further amount not exceeding one half of his own contributions without interest.
